Plan where the drive ends before you start it.

Waybi treats parking as part of the journey. For supported Auckland destinations, you can explore parking near the destination before departure and keep the final walking leg connected to the original trip.

01

Why parking belongs inside navigation

A route that ends at the front door is not always a useful driving route. In Auckland, the real task is often: get near the destination, choose a sensible place to leave the car, then walk the last few minutes. If parking is treated as a separate search after arrival, the driver has to make the most awkward decision at the busiest point of the trip.

Waybi moves that decision earlier. When parking data is available, nearby options can be explored around the destination during planning. The original destination remains the goal while the selected parking location becomes the end of the driving leg.

02

What Auckland parking data can and cannot tell you

Waybi prefers Auckland Transport open parking data in supported Auckland flows. That can provide useful published information such as the location of a parking facility and, for some records, static capacity.

Static capacity is not the same as “17 spaces free right now”. Waybi keeps that distinction explicit. If the source does not provide live occupancy, the UI should not imply that it does. A published capacity can help compare the scale of two facilities, but the driver still needs to follow on-site signs, restrictions, pricing and current availability.

03

From driving to the final walk

A parking-assisted journey can stay connected. First, Waybi plans the driving route to the selected parking location. After the driving leg is complete, the original destination can remain available for a walking route.

That is a small workflow detail with a large practical effect. The destination does not disappear just because the car has stopped. You do not have to search for the place again, remember a street name from another screen or mentally reconstruct why you chose a particular car park.

04

Parking suggestions should remain explainable

Waybi does not label a car park “best” just because it is the first result. Distance from the destination, source quality and available metadata all matter. If a source only knows the location, that is what the product should show. If it knows capacity, capacity can be displayed as published capacity. If live occupancy is unavailable, it remains unavailable.

The same principle applies to routing. Traffic-aware data can be used when the selected provider supplies it, but unavailable traffic information should not be disguised as a live congestion judgement.

05

Auckland is a local-data layer, not a hard-coded world

Waybi search and routing are not designed to be Auckland-only. The product can search and navigate internationally. Auckland is simply one region where a useful local dataset can improve a specific part of the experience.

That architecture matters because city-specific data should enrich the journey without redefining the entire product. When the user moves outside the adapter's service area, Waybi can fall back to broader map and search providers rather than pretending the Auckland dataset applies somewhere it does not.

06

Useful before a city trip, event or unfamiliar appointment

Parking-aware planning is most valuable when the destination is unfamiliar: a city appointment, restaurant, event, waterfront visit or place where street parking may be uncertain. Looking at the final leg before departure reduces the number of decisions that need to be made while driving.

Waybi's goal is not to guarantee a parking space. It is to make the known information available early enough to improve the plan, then preserve the original destination so the journey can continue after the car is parked.

FAQ

Good to know

Does Waybi show live Auckland parking availability?

Not unless the underlying source provides live occupancy. Published capacity is kept separate from real-time space availability.

Can I navigate to a car park and then walk to my original destination?

That is the intended parking-assisted flow: drive to the selected parking location, then continue toward the original destination on foot.

Is parking limited to Auckland?

Auckland has a specific open-data integration. Other regions may use broader place-search sources when dedicated local parking data is not available.
