Why bilingual navigation matters
Road names, destination names and signs in New Zealand are often English or Māori, while the person planning the trip may be more comfortable reading instructions in Chinese. A useful bilingual navigation app should not simply translate one marketing page. The language choice needs to reach the parts of the product used during planning and driving.
Waybi supports a Chinese or English interface and guidance. Place names and source data still need to respect the names returned by the underlying map and place providers, but the surrounding controls and navigation experience can remain in the language the user chooses.
Search nearby first, not a hard-coded city
A bilingual interface is not useful if search relevance ignores where the user is. Waybi search is designed to use proximity as a strong signal while still keeping global results available when the nearby area has no match. It is not meant to assume that every Chinese query refers to China or that every New Zealand user is in Auckland.
This matters for short queries and transliterated place names. Nearby results should have a fair chance to outrank distant namesakes, while an exact global destination should remain available when that is clearly what the user searched for.
New Zealand road information in the same journey
In New Zealand, Waybi can add local road context to ordinary navigation. Official NZTA road events can be surfaced on the map. Published NZTA fixed safety-camera locations can be matched to a planned route and used for advance reminders.
Those reminders are intentionally limited to what the source supports. Waybi does not claim complete mobile-enforcement coverage, every camera direction or every lane. The app is an aid; posted limits, road signs, temporary controls and current conditions remain authoritative.
Parking and the last part of the trip
For supported destinations, Waybi can help with parking before the drive begins. In Auckland, Auckland Transport open parking data can provide location and published capacity information. Capacity is not presented as live availability unless a live source actually exists.
After a parking location is selected, the trip can preserve the original destination so the final walking leg remains connected to the plan. That is especially useful when visiting an unfamiliar part of the city where the name of the destination is easier to remember than the name of the parking street.
Useful for visitors and residents
A Chinese-language navigation mode can help a visitor arriving in New Zealand, but it is equally useful for residents who simply prefer Chinese for in-app instructions. The product does not need to change its location model based on language. The same nearby search, route planning, parking and road-awareness logic should work whether the UI is Chinese or English.
Waybi also keeps international routing available. New Zealand has the deepest owned road-information layer today, but the broader navigation product is not supposed to stop working when the trip crosses a border.
A direct Chinese version is available
Waybi has a dedicated Chinese website experience in addition to the in-app language choice. The Chinese navigation guide explains the same product direction from the perspective of a Chinese-speaking user: heading-up navigation, route comparison, road events, local fixed-camera coverage and international availability.
If you prefer to read the product details in Chinese, use the Chinese guide rather than translating this page in the browser.
Good to know
Can Waybi use Chinese for navigation?
Yes. Waybi supports Chinese and English interface and guidance choices. Availability of place names still depends on the underlying place and map data.
Will Chinese search only return places in China?
No. Search is designed to stay location-aware and to prefer relevant nearby results while retaining global matches when appropriate.
Is the Chinese version only for Auckland?
No. Auckland has some local data integrations, but the navigation experience is designed for New Zealand and international destinations.
